Abstract: Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) caused by chronic infection with human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) is one of the most devastating pandemics ever recorded in human history, and has been widely concerned around the world. The purpose of this review is to discuss four aspects of HIV infection: screening of HIV infection, diagnosis and prevention of HIV infection and treatment of HIV-infection patients.
