Abstract: 【Abstract】Protein energy wasting (PEW) is a common abnormality among uremic patients with dialysis, often leading to adverse clinical outcomes including the risk of hospitalization and mortality. This paper reviews the recent progress from China and foreign countries in PEW on clinical outcomes such as mortality, cardiovascular disease, infection, frailty, lower quality of life, depression, and insensitivity to erythropoietin, in order to provide theoretical bases for the awareness, early detection and intervention of PEW in dialysis patients.
