Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of continuous blood purification(CBP) in treatment of rhabdomyolysis(RM). Methods Clinical data and treating procedure of 42 cases being diagnosed as rhabdomyolysis between 1998~2005 were retrospectively studied, changes of clinical status, therapy opportunity and prognosis of RM after CBP therapy were analyzed. Results ①The main clinical features were myohemoglobinuria and the significantly increased serum creatine phosphokinase(CPK). RM was easily misdiagnosed because of nonspecific symptoms. ②Being treated with CBP and conservative therapy, 38 cases recovered, 4 patients died, the cause of death was multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS). Conclusions ①Young and middle aged RM patients are easily ignored or misdiagnosed as heart stroke. ②Earlier diagnosed as RM and treated with CBP is the key treatment to decrease mortality rate. CBP can not only clean myohemoglobin in blood, but also reduce the incidence of MODS efficiently.
