Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical character of snuffbox arteriovenous fistula(SAV)in hemodialysis patients. Methods To compare the clinical effect of SAV between the elderly and young hemodialysis patients. Results In 232 cases of SAV, 104 cases(44.8%) were elderly hemodialysis patients(EHP) and 128 cases (55.2%) were young hemodialysis patients (YHP) there were no significance between EHP and YHP with the diameter of the anasto mosis sift, mean of blood flow, mean time to mature, average time of hemodialysis, the patency rate of 4 weeks, 1, 2 and 3 years, the incidence rates of thrombosis,aneurysm,swelled hand syndrome and steal phenomenon. Conclusion The SAV is one of the best choice for elderly and young hemodialysis patients.
