Abstract: Hyperkalemia is frequently seen in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Patients with slight hyperkalemia may have no obvious symptoms, but severe hyperkalemia can cause cardiac arrest, fatal arrhythmia, ventilator paralysis and other complications, seriously affecting survival and prognosis of the MHD patients. This article aims to review the characteristics and management of hyperkalemia in MHD patients.
