Abstract: 【Abstract】Objective To observe the effects of rhuEPO on serum leptin levels in patients with ESRD. Methods serum leptin levels were determined by ELISA before and after 2、4、8 weeks of rhuEPO used in ESRD patients on 8am. Results In normal controls, serum leptin levels was (6.24±4.18) μg/L in men, (9.86±5.86) μg/L in wemen.Be fore rhuEPO used, it was (21.18±7.42) μg/L in men, (29.04±6.48) μg/L in wemen;after 2nd week rhu EPO used, it was (16.24±5.88) μg/L in men, (20.28±6.36) μg/L in wemen; after 4nd week rhu EPO used was (13.76±4.24) μg/L in men, (16.82±5.25) μg/L in wemen; and was (14.84±6.46) μg/L in men, (18.47±5.34) μg/L in wemen after 8nd week rhuEPO used. Conclusion Serum leptin levels in patients with ESRD are significantly increased; rhuEPO may significantly reduce the serum leptin levels in patients with ESRD.
