Abstract

【Abstract】Objective To evaluate the dry weight is very important for management of hemodialysis patients, and for prevention of the symptoms due to body fluid over load. But now there is no kind of accurate, fast and simple method to measure the dry weight. We set up a bioelectrical resistivity measurement system (BRMS) and to study the bioelectrical resistivity as an indicator for dry weight in hemodialysis patients. Here is part of results in this study. Methods We measured the bioelectrical resistivity by our BRMS in control normal persons, and hemodialysis patients before and after dialysis procession. We also observed the dynamic changes of bioelectrical resistivity in hemodialysis patients. Results There was no significant difference among groups divided by age; but the bioelectrical resistivity was significantly lower in man than in woman. The bioelectrical resistivity measured before dialysis procession in hemodialysis patients was significantly lower than in normal control ones. The bioelectrical resistivity in patients with symptoms of body fluid over load became normal after several dialysis processions, and the symptoms released. Conclusion Bioelectrical resistivity can be used as an indicator to evaluate the dry weight in hemodialysis patients.
