Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of different hematocrit levels on the hemorheology of hemodialysis patients. Methods To collect the patients' datas during the course of the hemodialysis ( before dialysis, 2 hours after the beginning, just before the end of the dialysis), from November 2002 to January 2003, including Hct and rheological properties; using the random blocks ANOVA to observe the relationships of the Hct and other variables, as well as the differences between each point. Results Hct is correlated with rheological properties. During the course of hemodialysis, Hct levels increase gradually. The increases of plasma viscosity and K value show no statistical differences, as well as the decrease of ESR. Whole blood viscosities increase significantly compared with the levels before hemodialysis. Conclusion Increase of Hct won't induce obvious increase of plasma viscosity. 
