Abstract

Objective To explore change of serum troponin I（cTnI） in hemodialysis patients with hepatitis C. Methods By enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),the levels of serum cTnI were measured in 64 healthy persons and 115 patients with chronic renal failure（CRF）undergoing hemodialysis,which were divided into 70 patients with HCV antibody positive and 45 patients with HCV antibody negative. Results The levels of serum troponin I in 17.4%（20/115）CRF patients was higher than normal value. The positive rates were 13.3%（6/45）and 20%（14/70）in HCV antibody negative group and HCV antibody positive group respectively.The levels of serum cTnI in HCV antibody positive group were significantly higher than those of negative group( P＜0.01). Conclusions Myocardium impairments were prevalent in hemodialysis patients, and those with hepatitis C were stressed myocardium impairments in hemodialysis patients. It suggests that the hepatitis C virus may cause myocardium impairments. 
