Objective To investigate the effect of artificial liver support system (ALSS) intreating hepatitis gravis. Methods The patients with severe hepatitis were treated with plasma exchange (PE), bilirubinadsorption and continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH), The improvements in clinical symptom and serum level of TBIL、ALB、G、ALT、AST、ALP、BUN、Cr and PTA were measured. Results ALSS can improve clinical symptoms and the level of serum bilirubin of patients with severe hepatitis were significantly decreased (P<0.01）, the serum level of ALT、AST、ALP in cases treated with PE and CVVH significantly decreased (P<0.05) while there was no change in patients treated with bilirubin adsortion (P>0.05). PTA were improved (P<0.05). Conclusion ALSS may impvere the clinical symptoms and biochemical indexes of severe hpatitis patients. 
