Objective To investing at the effect and price relation in severe hepatitis treated by artificial liver support system. Methods the 82 patients were divided into two groups, the severe hepatitis group in which the patients were treated by artifical liver support system (plasma exchange adsorption) plus generalization treatment and the control in which the pattents were treated by generalization treatment. Effective rate, hospitalization time and medial cost were observed. Results In the patients whose PTA ranged from 20% to 40%, the effective rate of artificial liver support system group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.05). The hospitalization time was significantly shorter than control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference of medical cost between the two groups. The mediacal cost of the patients whose PTA lower than 20% was higher than contol group (P<0.05). Yet there were no significant difference of effective rate and hospitalization time between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Artificial liver support system is effective to severe hepatitis in early stage.
