Objective To investigate serum C－reactive protein (CRP) level and its correlation with malnutrition,anemia. Methods Twenty-six elderly and 27 young maintenance hemodialysis patients were studied. Blood sample were collected at the day on hemodialysis for the determination of red blood cell（RBC）,hemoglobin (Hgb), hematocrit (Hct), transferrin（TF）, serum albumin(Alb), serum creatinine（SCr）, blood urea nitrogen（BUN）and CRP; and triceps skinfold(TSF), arm circumference（AC）, arm muscle circumference（AMC）were measured. Results The level of TSF、AC、AMC、RBC、Hgb、Hct、TF、BUN、SCr、Alb in elderly maintenance hemodialysis patients was lower than those of young patients;but serum CRP was higher，The serum-CRP is negatively correlated with hemoglobin (Hgb), hematocrit (Hct) and serum albumin（ P<0.01, P<0.01, P<0.05 respetively）in elderly maintenance hemodialysis patients. Conclusion The malnutrition, anemia and hypoproteinemia in elderly maintenance hemodialysis patients are more severe than those of young group, Anemia and malnutrition are correlated with micro-inflammation in elderly maintenance hemodialysis patients.
