Abstract
Objective To study the effect of individualized dialysate temperature on hemodialysis complications. Methods Sixty maintenance hemodialysis patients were prescribed individualized dialysate temperature hemodialysis according to their blood pressures before hemodilysis and their previous tendency blood pressures, during or not during hemodialysis. The highest and lowest values of mean arterial pressure (MAP) during hemodialysis, the fluctuating range of MAP, degree of dialyser clotting, the incidence of chilly, fever, and other complications were recorded. Results The incidence of severe hypertension and hypotension, the fluctuating range of MAP and the morbidity of heart disease and cerebral stroke after individualized temperature hemodialysis were significantly lower than non-individualized temperature hemodialysis (P <0.001). Only one patient felt light chilly, no other adverse effects were observed. Conclusion Individualized dialysate temperature hemodialysis can decrease the incidence of severe hypertension and hypotension . It is worth to apply in hemodialysis.
