Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between plasma adiponectin(APN) and diabetes, coronary heart disease and hypertension in patients undergoing haemodialysis, as well as the role of APN in these diseases. Methods Plasma APN, biochemical parameters and inflammatory factors levels were detected in 20 healthy individuals as well as 80 patients undergoing haemodialysis by ELISA.The subjets’ 24-hour urine protein were detected, too. Results The plasma APN level was significantly higher in haemodialysis group than in control group [(29.356±19.690)mg/L vs (9.330±3.825)mg/L, P <0.001]. However, the levels of blood urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine Cr) and inorganic phosphorus (P) in plasma remarkably decreased after one haemodialysis session (P <0.001). The levels of APN, hypersensitive C reactive protein(Hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNFα), albumin(ALB),calcium(Ca)increased or as the same after haemodialysis. Multinomial logistic regression demonstrated that APN was negatively correlated with plasma BUN, triglyceride(TG), ALB, Hs-CRP and postively correlated with hign density lipoprotein (HD2), gomerular filtration rote (GFR) and urine protein. Conclusion The level of APN in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is much higher than normal individuals. The level of APN is correlated with the degree of renal disease and the level of urine protein. Notably, APN is negtively correlated with several risk factors, indicating APN could serve as a reverse index for heart disease
