Abstract: Objective To study the affecting factors of aortic augmentation index (AIx) in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Methods Total of 163 stable CAPD patients were included into this study. AIx was evaluated by applanation tonometry (SphygmoCor) and its affecting factors were analyzed. Results AIx in female patients was higher than that in male patients (P <0.01). AIx was positively correlated with age, sex (1 male, 2 female) and mean arterial pressure (MAP), and negatively correlated with body height and weight. However, multiple regression analysis showed that only age, sex, height and MAP were independent determinants of AIx in these patients, respectively. Conclusion Age, sex, MAP and height are independent determinants of AIx in CAPD patients.
