Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of preconditioning high dose vitamin C for the dialyzer on advanced oxidation protein products(AOPP) in hemodialysis patients. Methods One hundred and sixty adults were randomly selected including in-patients in the nephrology ward and healthy subjects for routine medical examination. The subjects were classified into 4 groups: Normal subjects(NS),uremia (U), hemodialysis (HD) and therapy (T) group. The serum levels of AOPP were measured respectively. Results Serum levels of AOPP were significantly higher in uremia patients compared with healthy controls(P <0.01),while higher in HD patients than in uremia patients, but significantly lower in the therapy group than in HD group(P<0.01). Conclusion Preconditioning high-dose vitamin C for the dialyzer can decrease AOPP in HD patients.
