Objective Our purpose was to investigate the indications and the safety of abdominal hysterectomy in the maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the five abdominal hysterectomy cases of maintenance hemodialysis patients in our hospital from June 2002 to June 2005, including their indications, preoperative preparations, crucial disposal points in the operation and the works after the operation. Results All the operations were successfully performed without severe complications. Conclusion With a well-prepared dialysis management, abdominal hysterectomy can be safely performed in maintenance hemodialysis patients.
