Abstract: 【Abstract】Plasma exchange (PE) is a blood purification method aiming at removing circulating pathogenic proteins or protein-bound substances, which has been widely applied in treating various diseases, including autoimmune diseases. It has two technical forms: membrane separation(MPE) and centrifugal separation (CPE). The technical issues include prescription of treatment dose and frequency, choice of plasma separator, setup of treatment parameters including blood flow rate, plasma separation rate, choice of replacement fluid, anticoagulation, prevention of clinical and technical complications. In this paper, we reviewed all of the issues mentioned above in detail.
