Abstract: codextrin through a mechanism resembling ‘colloid’ osmosis forms effective ultrafiltration during the long dwelling phase of peritoneal dialysate. On the basis of the classic icodextrin dialysate-based treatment regimen, a variety of treatment schedules suitable for different clinical conditions have been developed, such as single daily use of icodextrin dialysate, twice daily use of icodextrin dialysate, and icodextrin combined with glucose peritoneal dialysate. Icodextrin dialysate can help control chronic heart failure and improve or maintain ventricular structure. The treatment regimen based on icodextrin dialysate will effectively improve our peritoneal dialysis treatment.
