Abstract: 【Abstract】Due to the growth of aged population and the higher incidences of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients and those developed into end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis are increased. The number of hemodialysis patients necessarily treated with surgery under general anesthesia is also increased. There is no consensus about the best management for maintenance hemodialysis patients undergoing surgery. This article focuses on peri-operative risk assessment and management for maintenance hemodialysis patients, in order to provide a reference for surgical department to make clinical decisions and to help these patients survive the peri-operative period.
